Delhi Varanasi Bodh Gaya is the very important Buddhist pilgrimage for the followers of the Buddhist faith. It is one of the main sites related with the life of Lord Buddha. Buddha attained enlightenment here under a Banyan Tree that is now known as Maha Bodhi Tree. The third sapling of the original sacred banyan tree still exists in the temple complex. It is flocked by tourists especially from countries where Buddhist religion is followed such as Japan, Sri Lanka, Korea and Thailand etc. Apart from that many international tourist from European countries also visit here.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Delhi: Assistance upon arrival at Delhi International airport then transfer to the hotel in Delhi. Having arrived check in at hotel and relaxation for the day. There is overnight stay at Delhi Hotel.

Day 2: Delhi / Varanasi (Overnight Train): Today after breakfast, you will proceed for a guided tour of Delhi visiting tourist attractions in Delhi such as Lotus Temple, Humayun’s Tomb and the Qutab Minar etc. Then continue to visit British Delhi visiting the Government buildings and Connaught Place, located in the main city centers. Old Delhi sightseeing including Jama Masjid, Red Fort and Chandni Chowk etc.

Overnight Train: 1st Air-Conditioned Sleeper Coach is provided.

Day 3: Arrival Varanasi: Assistance upon arrival at Varanasi train station then transfer to the hotel. Varanasi is the oldest city in the world that is believed to be situated on the trident of Lord Shiva as per the Hindu Mythology. Varanasi city is revered by Hindus, Buddhists and Jain alike that is one of the main holy cities in India. Having checked in at hotel proceed for sightseeing of the city visiting Bharat Mata Temple, Durga Temple, Old Vishwanath Temple, Sankat Mochan Temple and Banaras Hindu University (BHU Campus) where you can see New Vishwanatha Temple that is surrounded by palm trees. In the evening spend some time at the Ghats to see the religious activities there. There is overnight stay at Varanasi hotel.

Excursion Tip: You may spend few hours in the early morning enjoying boat ride and witness fabulous sun shine along with seeing Hindu religious rituals. Having seen all these, proceed for an excursion trip to visit Sarnath, where Buddha preached his first sermon after attaining enlightenment. Return to Varanasi hotel in the evening.

Day 4: Varanasi to Bodh Gaya: In the early morning visit the holy Ganges for a boat ride and witnessing divine sun shine. You may also see scores of Hindu worshippers taking holy dip at Ganges at world famous Ghats, where you will see a lot of Hindus religious rituals are being performed along the sidesteps known as Ghats. After that you may explore the city at length that is also known for its congested streets that are filled with panorama of daily life.  Having done all these drive to  Bodh Gaya. Having arrived, check in at Bodh Gaya hotel for overnight stay.

Option: In the early morning transfer to the train station to board train to Bodh Gaya. Assistance upon arrival at railway station then transfer to the hotel. Having checked in at hotel, relaxation for some time then proceed for full day sightseeing visiting various temples constructed by different countries including the main Maha Bodhi Temple. In this very temple you would be able to witness the Bodhi Tree under which Lord Buddha got enlightenment.

Train Journey: Early morning train in which Chair Car seating is provided.

Day 5: In Bodh Gaya: Today morning after breakfast full day sightseeing of the city visiting Buddhist temples constructed in different styles by the different nations including Mahabodhi Temple. You can see Vajrasan or Diamond Throne lying between the Bodhi Tree and the temple marks the actual spot where Buddha sat in meditation to attain enlightenment. There is overnight stay at Bodh Gaya hotel.

Day 6: Bodhgaya /Rajgir / Nalanda / Patna / Patna / Delhi: This morning you will be driven to Patna visiting Rajgir and Nalanda on the way. Rajgir is the place where Lord Buddha set in motion His second wheel of law on Griddhakuta or Vultures Peak and preached sermons.You can also see a massive Shanti (peace) stupa at the top of the hill, constructed by the Buddha Sangha of Japan in Buddha’s commemoration. Nalanda is located 12 kms from Rajgir that was an important resort for saints during Buddha’s time. Nalanda had a renowned university in 5 century B.C also. After seeing all these transfer to Patna Train Station to board overnight train for Delhi.

Overnight Train: 1st Air-Conditioned Sleeper Coach is provided.

Day 7: Depart Delhi: Assistance upon arrival at Delhi train station then transfer to the hotel. Having arrived check in at hotel then sightseeing for the rest of tourist places of Delhi and its well stocked markets as per your choice for the day. In the midnight or early morning transfer to the international airport to board flight back home. The trip ends.
