The Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal, Agra is one of the most famous buildings in the world. The Taj Mahal was built by the mughal king Shahjehan in the loving memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal; the mausoleum was completed in 1653. It is one of the New Seven Wonders of the world.
Agra Fort (Red Fort)
The great Mughal Emperor Akbar commissioned Agra Fort, in 1565. The fort is crescent shaped, flattened on the east with a long, nearly straight wall facing the river. The fort is a typical example of Mughal architecture.
Fatehpur Sikri
The Mughal Emperor Akbar built Fatehpur Sikri. The site displays a number of buildings of significant historical importance. It is a World Heritage Site; visited by tourists.
I’timad-Ud-Daulah,the Empress Nur Jahan built I’timad-Ud-Daulah’s Tomb for her father, it is also called the Baby Taj. It is located on the left bank of the Yamuna River.
Akbar’s Tomb, Sikandra, the last resting place of the Mughal Emperor Akbar the Great, is on the Delhi-Agra Highway. It is vast, beautifully carved and red-ochre sandstone tomb.
Apart from those mentioned, there are some other tourists attractions of Agra such as Swami Bagh Samadhi, Mankameshwar Temple, Guru ka Tal, Jama Masjid, Chini ka Rauza and Ram Bagh etc.
